Random Tandem is a collaborative project that involved creating a piece using randomly assigned objects and working with another person who also received an assigned object. The goal was to create a single physical piece that could be taken apart to form independent pieces. For this project, I was assigned a transparent clip used for holding clothing and garments, while my partner Lisa received a red feather.
Through collaboration, Lisa and I had to find a way to combine our objects to create a cohesive piece. This required us to consider each other's objects and ideas, as well as work together to ensure the physical fit of our individual pieces. Despite the challenge of working with seemingly unrelated objects, the end result was a successful and unique piece that brought together the transparent clip and red feather in an unexpected way.
Initially, I was unsure of how to create a piece with my transparent clip, since I wasn't familiar with its use. However, after conducting some research and incorporating my partner Lisa's object, I developed several designs. I decided to create the wings of a bird using layered clips to tie in both of our objects. Despite the tiny and delicate nature of my clip, I aimed to create a fragile yet elegant piece using mainly wires and silver.
